We began with Peaceful and Calm Meditation. This was, "as advertised" peaceful and calm! This was the second time round for me to learn this wonderful meditation and I appreciated it more this time. I also appreciated the clarity of Sigong's teaching which enabled me to engage with the meditation at a deeper level. It was a great way to start the 2017 seminars.Peaceful Position Meditation:
It is great to do a few short seminars as they make it easier for very new students to ease into Sifu’s annual program a small step at a time. The meditation seminar was attended by a new student who got a lot out of it and for whom it came at a time when she has just started to develop her meditation practice. Instructor Course: Our least confident student, being entirely new to the experience, passed all three tests, being the only one in the whole group. For instructors who were placed in the position of tester the course had its own quite different learning curve and challenge. It was a good day and brought our far-flung students closer to the Centre. Enlightenment Gong: With every successive year the subtleties of this beautiful form are becoming clearer and students are starting to develop an appreciation for receiving good polishing rather than ‘getting to the end’ as soon as possible. Everybody finished the two days with bright and sparkling eyes. Dayan Healing Hand Gestures: This was a great seminar for old and new students alike as it deepened everybody’s understanding of movements and hand gestures they practice in their exercises and forms all the time. Sifu also gave us an introduction in qi transmission with the use of different gestures and students were surprised and delighted to be able to sense the energy and acupuncture points. This makes Qigong practice even more meaningful. Everybody is looking forward to more seminars on hand gestures. Vera Externest |
